Budget Check for Assets

Updated May 19, 2018

This article details the steps to be followed for having budgetary control against assets where investment management is not used. These assets can be AUC (Assets Under Construction) assets or normal assets.

We will categorize this under two parts

1. When asset is procured from FI route in Tcode F-90 2. When asset is procured from MM route i.e. Raising a purchase order on the vendor and doing goods receipt in Tcode MIGO

When asset is procured from FI route
Following steps need to be followed for this

1. Create a internal order in Tcode KO01 2. This internal order shud be a statistical internal order 3. This Internal Order shud be having Object Class as "Investment" 4. Assign budget to this internal order in Tcode KO22 5. Create a budget profile which shud be assigned to the order type of this internal order. The same shud refer to some budgetary controls like Warning message on 80% utilization, error message on 100% or more 6. Create asset master record 7. Assign the internal order created above in the "Origin" tab of the asset master in the field "Investment Order" 8. In SPRO, in the step "Integration with GL" in Asset Accounting menu, go to the sub step "Activate additional account assignment objects" and choose investment order and allow it for generic transaction type "*" 9. The above step will result in the internal order being referred to when ever the asset master is referred 10. The asset reconciliation account shud be created as a cost element. This cost element will be a statistical cost element with category 90 defaulted by the system 11. The field status group of the asset recon accont as well as the posting key shud permit the field internal/investment order as Optional Entry 12. Now, at the time of asset purchase using T code F-90, system will check the budget and issue proper message depending upon the budget utilization

When asset is procured from MM route

The steps mentioned above from 1 to 11 hold valid in this case also as far as configuration is concerned. However, standard SAP checks budget at the time of creating the purchase order itself. For this Commitment Management shud be activated at the Controlling Area level. However,if budget needs to be checked at the time of MIGO, then SAP note no. 46209 shud be applied

Thanks for detailed steps. I will check in config. I am facing problem that availability check is not functioning when I post asset with T.code F-90. But when I poste purchases with FB 60 with same order it is checking availability check.
