404 not found in SAP portal

Updated Dec 27, 2024

Hi,

I'm getting the 404 not found error in SAP Portal -SRM Approvals. Does anyone have a solution for this? This is occurring for Single sign-on only, not for all users.

Please help.
Thanks.

A 404 Not Found error in SAP Portal - SRM Approvals for Single Sign-On (SSO) users indicates an issue with the configuration or access related to SSO. Here's a breakdown of the cause and potential solutions:

Cause:

  • Configuration Mismatch: There might be a discrepancy between the configuration in the SAP Portal and the backend system (SRM system) for SSO users. This could involve incorrect URLs, missing parameters, or authorization issues specific to SSO.
  • Authorization Issue: Single Sign-On might not be properly configured for the specific role or user accessing SRM approvals. Permissions within the portal or backend system might be missing.
  • Temporary System Glitch: In rare cases, a temporary glitch in the portal or backend system could cause the 404 error.

Solutions:

  1. Verify Configuration:

    • Check the configuration for the SRM approval link in the SAP Portal. This includes the target system, URL, and any dynamic parameters used. Ensure it matches the configuration in the backend SRM system.
    • If using a Web Dynpro application for approvals, verify the application name and deployable object are correctly defined in the portal configuration.
  2. Review Authorization:

    • Check the user's authorization in the SAP Portal and the backend SRM system. Ensure they have the necessary roles and permissions to access SRM approvals through Single Sign-On.
    • Focus on roles and permissions specific to SSO and SRM approvals.
  3. Troubleshooting Steps:

    • If the issue is recent, try clearing the browser cache and cookies.
    • Test accessing SRM approvals directly (without SSO) to see if the error persists. This helps isolate the problem to SSO configuration.
    • Review the portal and backend system logs for any specific error messages related to the 404 and SSO process.

Hi. Have you recently done any patches to your system. If yes....specifically SP 18. If yes, see SAPNote 1248135 - SAP NW Portal Platform NW04s, SPs18 - Known Issues

    Regards,
