What is Coding Mask in SAP?
The coding mask in SAP defines the number of characters an SAP user can reserve for the project ID, and also for WBS elements, and how many for the project coding ID.
How to Define Coding Mask for Position Key in SAP?
Please follow the steps below to define coding mask for the position key in your SAP system:
Enter t-code SPRO in the SAP Command Field and then press Enter button to Executethe transaction code.
Now on Customizing: Execute Project screen click the SAP Reference IMG button to proceed.
Next, navigate to the following SAP IMG path:
SPRO > SAP Reference IMG > Investment Management > Investment Programs > Master Data > Coding Mask for the Position Key > Coding Mask
Next on the Change View "Coding Mask for Investment Program Positions": Overview screen, you will see the previously defined coding mask on your SAP system.
Next, click the New Entries button to define a new Coding Mask for Position Key in your SAP system.
Now, provide the following details for the new Coding Mask as shown in the image below:
- EdID
- Coding Editing Mask
- Name
Once all the details are entered click the Save button to save the details of the new coding mask for position key.
Next, select your Customization Request id and press Enter to proceed.
A message Data was saved will be displayed on the bottom of your screen.
You have successfully created a new Coding Mask Positions Key in your SAP system.
