What is Data Carrier Type?
Data carrier type is supported when users export/import the entire database and/or the entire database catalog (EXPORT/IMPORT DB). In such cases, the third-party backup toolset for the Loader session is used for exporting/importing.
How to Define Data Carrier Type in SAP?
Please follow the steps below to define data carrier type in the SAP system:
Enter the t-code SPRO in the SAP command field and click the execute button
Next, click the SAP Reference IMG button
Now on the display IMG screen, go to the following IMG path:
Personal Management > Personal Administration > Customizing Procedures > Actions > Set up personnel actions.
Next, click the Continue button on the Information popup
Next on Change View “Define data carrier type "archive” screen, you will see the list of all the previously defined carrier types in your SAP system.
Click the New Entries button to define data carrier type in your SAP system.
Now on the new screen, enter the following details according to your requirement:
- Ty: Type of data carrier
- Description: Short text about the data carrier type
- Also check the Online and Archive checkboxes
Once all the details are entered click the Save button to save the newly define data carrier type.
Next, select your Customization Request id and press the Enter button to proceed
You will get a message Data was saved on your screen.
You have successfully defined a new data carrier type in your SAP DMS system.
