Define Handling Unit Types

This SAP EWM tutorial explains step by step procedure to define the handling unit in your SAP system.

What are the Handling Unit Types?

Handling Unit Types are the systems that are used to classify packing materials and Handling units with the same physical properties.

How to Define Handling Unit Types?

Please follow the steps below to define the handling units:

Enter t-code SPRO in the SAP command field and execute it.

Now on the next screen click the SAP Reference IMG button.

Next, go to the following SAP menu path:

Integration With Other SAP Components > Extended Warehouse Management > Additional Material Attributes > Attribute Values for Additional Material Master Fields > Define Handling Unit Type

On the next screen, you will see the list of the previously defined handling units types on your SAP system.

Next click on the New Entries button to define a new handling unit.

Now, fill in the following details of the new handling unit types as shown in the image below:

• HUTyp: Input unique HU Type key to define the Handling Unit Type in SAP EWM
• Description: Enter a short description for Handing Unit Type.

Once all the details are entered click the Save button at the bottom to save the handling unit type.

Next, select your Customization Request id and press Enter to proceed.

A message Data was saved will be displayed on the bottom of your screen.

You have successfully defined new handling unit types in your SAP EWM system.
