Define Resource Types in SAP

In this SAP EWM tutorial, we will learn the step-by-step procedure to define resource type in SAP and assign it to bin access type and HU type groups with proper screenshots.

What is Resource Type?

 Resource types in SAP EWM enable users to combine or group the resources that have similar technical and physical qualifications.

How to define Resource Types

Please follow the configuration steps below to define resource types:

Execute transaction code SPRO in the SAP Command Field.

Now, click the option SAP Reference IMG button.

Next, follow the below navigation IMG Path and execute the IMG activity of Define Resource Type.

SPRO > SAP Reference IMG > SCM Extended Warehouse Management > Extended Warehouse Management > Cross-Process Settings > Resource Management > Define Resource Type

Next on the Change View “Define Resource Types”: Overview screen, you will see the list of previously defined Resource Types.

Now click on the New Entries button to define the new resource types

Next on new entries of the Resource type screen, enter the following details:

• Warehouse Number: Enter the Embedded EWM Warehouse number
• Resource Type: Enter the 4 character alphanumerical key that defines the resource type
• Description: Enter a short description about resource Type

Next, click the Save button to save the new configuration.

Assign Bin Access Types to Resource Type

Please follow the steps below to assign bin access types to resource type:

Select Resource Type and double-click on the Assign Bin Access Types option.

On the Change View "Assign Bin Access Types": Overview screen, click on the New Entries option.

Now enter the Bin Access Type key in the given field and press Enter to proceed

You have successfully assigned bin access types to resource types

Assign HU Type Groups to Resource Types

Please follow the steps below to assign the HU type group to the resource type:

Double click on the Assign HU Type Group option for assigning to Resource Types.

Now on the Change view “Assign HU Types Groups” Overview screen, click on the New Entries option

On New entries of the Assign HU Types group screen, enter the Handling Unit Type Group Key in the given field HUTGr

Now enter the Handling Unit Type Group Key in the given field HUTGr as shwon in the image below

Next, click on the Save button and save the details.

You have successfully created the Resource types and assignment of Bin Access Types and HU Type groups to Resource Types.
