R/3 Basis System Initialization DB-Connect Failed, Return code 000256

Hi friends,

I am getting 3 errors during sap 4.7 installation. kindly help.
i herewwith giving the error details:-
1. R/3 Basis System Initialization DB-Connect Failed, Return code 000256
2. R/3 Basis System: operating system call Recv failed error no. 10054
3. R/3 Basis System: Database connection Disconnected.
After i have strated the sap server(MMC) first it will goto yellow and then green and againg goes to yellow color. message and dispatcher turned to gray.
Pls help.your advise is considered very useful.

Hi

first precaution should be u have to install SAP on a fresh system ,dont install it on the same drive only by uninstalling java and ur data base ,if u r doing like this u have to delete the services of ur data base and then delete the data base folder from the drive and frm the program files ,then install ur database ...

2) set the services of SAPOSCOL,SAPSID_ and database services to start state and in the automatic mode ..

3) if at all the services didn't turned to green then start the database manually ...these error comes because database is nothaving connection with the r/3 system..and check the connection through r/3trans-d if database is oracle..

if from all the above tries if the problem still exists means then install only central instance ...

hope the above all measures solves ur problem...

check for the DB connection. It might be not connected properly.
sys dba connect is the command
check it if this can work

wat is ur DB
if it is oracle
login to system as adm

start--> run --> cmd -->login "/as sysdba" --> startup
even check the listner is up
--->LSNRCTL ---> status ---> start (if it is down) and then start mmc
