How many Retained Earning A/c We can Maintain in a Company Code?

I have this query that may i know how many retained earning a/c we can maintain in a company code?

    If you are using one chart of account for all the co code you can maintain one retain earning account or if you are following different chart of a count for all the company code you need maintain different chart of account. mainly this account used for to carry forward the balance  in the year end

    You can maintain more then one but one is mandatory.
