Master Data available in FICO

Hello SAP Experts,

What is the master data available in SAP for FICO? I have faced so many times this question in interviews.

Please, friends, anyone can help me.

    Dear kondaiah,

    Master Data is standard and used for a long time period to run the organisation successfully.

    As in Definition:
    Master Data are the critical nouns of a business which are used for a long time period.

    It fall generally into four groupings:

    • people
    • things
    • places
    • concepts.

    Further classifications within those groupings are called subjected areas, domain areas or entity types. I am explaining it herewith examples: people: customers,employee,vendors and share holders etc.. things: product,part,store and assets etc.. concepts: contract, warranty, licenses and patents etc.. places: office locations and geographic divisions etc.. again these domain areas may divided further as per the business process like customer- further segmented based on incentives and history. it mean that every organisation may have normal customers, premier and executive customers. hope its useful.

    Above information is giving a clear idea about Master Data.

    This will be maintained in all functional modules like
    FICO - GL(BS Accs, Profit & Loss Accs and Share Holders Equity Accts), AA(Asset master), AP(vendor Accounts) and AR(customer Accounts)
    MM - Master Data associated materials and vendors
    SD - Master Data associated Customers and Products
    HR - Master Data associated Employee and payrolls
    PP - Master Data associated to Inventory and capital

    The word master data means in sap parminent data.
    In sap some of the master data are fallow,
    1. customer master data
    2. vendor master data
    3. asset master data

    Cost center
    cost center groups
    Activity
    Activity groups
    Stastical key figure
    Stastical key figure group

    Master data means GL master data,vendor master data.what ever data u maintain about GL,AP,AR is called as Master DATA.
