How to improve performance and resolve dump in MB51?
SOLUTION
The user needs to perform all the steps given below in order to improve MB51 performance.
1. Selection Criteria
- Request the users to be more selective in their search criteria.
- For transaction code MB51, it recommended in order to use 'material number', 'plant' and to enter two defined 'selection dates'.
- In case if you leave the material number or the selection date 'blank', then the report will take a long time and maybe produce a dump. However, this is not a software error as there is always a limit to the performance of selection reports.
2. User Need to Reduce the number of data fields processed by RM07DOCS (MB51)
The corresponding customizing view 'V_MMIM_REP_CUST' under SM30 allows the user to select and decrease the number of data fields from the MM documents.
3. Need to De-activate colours from MB51
Please check SAP Document 555893 in order to disable the colour of output list.
This reduces the size of the required memory and will be helpful for very large output lists.
Please follow the steps below in order to deactivate it:
- Go to IMG menu path.
- Now go to Material Management --> Inventory Management and Physical Inventory --> Reporting
- Then select Set Up Print Functions for Reporting
- Now, at last, configure 'Without Color' indicator accordingly for program RM07DOCS.
4. Archive
The user can also archive some of the contents of the table which are outdated or not useful.
The relevant archiving objects are MM_MATBEL and MM_SPSTOCK. Please use T-code SARA in order to archive the data.
5. Redesign MB51 (available from software component SAP APPL 600)
Please check the SAP documents 1516684, 1550000, 1558298 in order to redesign MB51. Consider this is a complex implementation, please ensure all manual steps are performed.
