First of all one of the important difference is that SAP HR (Human Resource) is an entirely SAP module although SAP HCM is a business suite, Basically SAP HR can be established and modified with the help of ABAP codes while HCM can be established with the help of web based tool.

Please make sure that SAP HCM results are shown in the respective web portal. Although in SAP, HR was called as HCM subsequently the web portal sub modules similar to e-learning/ e-recruitment that are added further.

It is a great help to the SAP system that makes them so much informal so that clients would are working at the different places would be able to use anytime. SAP HCM ( Human Capital Management ) helps us to deal with the workers satisfaction with in the entire organization whereas SAP HR will help you to work with in the resources that are accessible competently. Hope this article might help you for the above issue.

There is no difference between  SAP HR and SAP HCM until Version 4.7 it was called as SAP HR, From the Version 5.0 is changed to SAP HCM - Human Capital Management. The new addition in 5.0 was E-Recruitment, Global & Concurrent Employment, ESS and MSS back end it was built on Netweaver that's the reason it has changed to HCM.

But at the end of the day, HR and HCM are same. It's only the version which made it different (4.7 & 5.0). They mean the same thing. Sap HR and Sap HCM are one of the most important and biggest modules in SAP to control and manage Human Resource.

SAP-HR is with the basic modules of PA, OM,Time Payroll.

SAP-HCM i.e Human Capital Management comes with New Modules like E-recruitment, E-learning, Talent acquisition, Performance workflow. HCM is basically the New version of SAP-HR.

Human Resources is the widely used term, but to make it sound more technical and modern the term Human Capital Management is used instead.
