The installation of the SAPPDFPRINT tool enables the printing of Interactive Forms on any printer, similar to using SAPWIN-based device types. Previously, Interactive Forms could only be printed on printers with an assigned XDC file. SAPPDFPRINT removes this limitation.
Procedure
To print Interactive Forms (formerly known as PDF-based forms) on a printer with any device type, you should install the SAPPDFPRINT component.
SAPPDFPRINT allows you to print Interactive Forms on any printer, similar to using SAPWIN-based device types. Previously, you could only print Interactive Forms on printers assigned an XDC file. Installing SAPPDFPRINT before SAPSprint or SAP GUI is essential, as these applications will automatically recognize this component.
Pre-Conditions
Install SAPPDFPRINT either with SAPSprint on a Microsoft Windows print server or with SAP GUI on a front-end host. SAPSprint or SAP GUI will automatically detect the presence of SAPPDFPRINT and print Interactive Forms on the selected printer.
Note: Ensure that SAPSprint or SAP GUI has the same release as SAPPDFPRINT.
Create an output device with the device type PDF1 in the SAP system. If you previously used an output device with the SAPWIN device type, you can use report RSPO0022 to assign the SAPWIN device type to PDF1. When printing Interactive Forms, the system will generate a PDF data stream if the user selects a printer with the device type SAPWIN.
Restrictions
SAPPDFPRINT exclusively works with Interactive Forms generated by Adobe Document Services (ADS). Other spool requests (e.g., ABAP lists or SAPscript forms) generated with the PDF1 device type, or binary spool requests containing a PDF document, cannot be printed using SAPPDFPRINT.
