Define Handling Unit Type Groups

What is Handling Unit Type (HU Type) Groups?

Handling Unit Type (HU Type) groups in SAP HANA EWM can be used to group the Handling Units types in Extended Warehouse Management with similar physical properties.

How to Define Handling Unit Type (HU Type) Groups?

Please follow the steps below to define the Supplier Hierarchy in your SAP system:

Enter t-code SPRO in the SAP command field and press Enter to execute the transaction code.

On the next screen click the SAP Reference IMG button to proceed to the next steps.

Now navigate to the following SAP IMG path:

SCM Extended Warehouse Management > Extended Warehouse Management > Cross process settings > Handling Units > Basics > Define HU Type groups

Next on the Change View "Handling Unit Type Group Definition: Overview screen you will see a list of all previously defined handling unit group on your SAP system.

Now click the New Entries button to define a new handling unit group.

Now on the next screen, update the following details

• Warehouse No: Specify the embedded EWM warehouse number
• HU Type Group: Enter the 4 characters key that defines the HU Type Group 
• Definition: Enter a short description of the new  Handling Unit Type Hroup.

Once all the details have been entered click the Save button to save the newly defined Handling Unit Type Groups.

Now select your Customization Request id and press Enter to go to the next screen.

Next, the message Data was saved will be displayed at the bottom of your screen implying all the details have been saved in your system.

You have successfully defined a new Handling Unit Type Group in your SAP system.
