SAP operating concern is one of the most important organizational units in cost-based profitability analysis (CO-PA). The operating concern in SAP can be used by a user as a management tool that will analyze specific markets or business segments.

SPRO => IMG => Enterprise Structure => Maintain Structure => Definition => Controlling => Maintain Operating Concern
How to Define Operating Concern in SAP?
Please follow the steps below to define operating concerns in SAP:
First, execute t-code KEP8 in the SAP Easy Access screen.
Next in the Maintaining Operating Concern screen, you will see the list of previously defined operating concerns in your SAP system.
Click the New Entries button to create a new operating concern according to your requirements.
Now in the Operating Concern Configuration screen, enter the following screen.
- Operating concern: Input 4-digits unique alphanumerical ID that represents the operating concern in SAP CO.
- Name of operating concern: Input a short description of the new operating concern.
Once all the details have been entered click the Save button to save the new operating concern.
Next, select the Customization Request id and press Enter to proceed.
A message Data was saved will be displayed on your screen.
You have successfully defined Operating Concern STECH on your SAP system.
